NEW ULM -- Gag Sheet Metal donated $5,000 to Turner Hall for the cost of a new air conditioning system.

"We like Turner Hall and what they do for the community," John Gag of GSM said about the donation.

Turner Hall Executive Director Andrea Boettger said the air conditioning system was already installed at a cost $12,000. The donation from GSM will help reimburse Turner Hall for the installation.

The air conditioning system was installed to benefit the Founder Room and Turner Ladies Kitchen space. The Founder Room had previously had a wall air conditioning unit, but it was not efficient at cooling the room.

Jeannie Kretch said before the installation of air conditioning in Turner Ladies Kitchen, the volunteers needed fans and sweat to stay cool.

With the air conditioning project complete, Turner Hall is now preparing for a capital project to pave the parking lot. The project is estimated at $128,000. So far Turner Hall has raised $20,000 for the project.

The goal is to have the new parking lot ready for the 56th National Turner Fest coming to New Ulm in July 2023.
