P.E. teacher receives Eagles Extravaganza grant

The ISD 88 Foundation would like to announce the recipient of the 2022 Eagles Extravaganza Education Grant. This year’s grant goes to Derek Lieser, New Ulm High School’s P.E. teacher and strength and conditioning coach for the P.E. Lab for analytics, data and technical equipment.

This grant gives our students at the high school the necessary tools to increase physical activity in order to reduce stress, help symptoms of depression, improve mental health and other health benefits, and improve academic and athletic performance. Many of these benefits can be monitored and analyzed with the help of the equipment provided by this award.

The award pays for cameras, tool kits, iPads and magnetized mounts for the P.E. Lab. These devices allow students to work out digitally, get input data from their workouts, track progress and growth of their fitness journey, and publish reports that can be used to show this growth. This project would impact all athletes and students that take physical education classes. This will also be used for the summer athletic programs grades 7-12 in the Strength and Conditioning program. The program will serve 400-500 New Ulm Public School students.

Starting at $4.50/week.
