Art Deco entering the antique realm

The legal definition of an antique is that it is at least 100 years old. This means the art deco era is officially reaching antique status. The name “art deco” is believed to come from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes (International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts) in Paris in 1925, but the style already existed by the time of the exhibition. I started off 2023 by reading a lot of great nonfiction books, with one novel thrown in. Happy New Year! Here are some great new books that will be coming soon to the Children’s Room. “Very Good Hats” by Emma Staub is a story about, you guessed it, hats! Hats can be made in fine shops and be very expensive. But we all know hats that are made of the tops of acorns, raspberries on your thumb, and a pudding cups that make a dashing hats for a teddy bears.
