Cassandra is experiencing one of the worst days of her life: first her boyfriend breaks up with her, then she is fired from her PR job, then protesters throw paint on her faux fur coat. It’s overwhelming, and Cassandra passes out from a panic attic in the doorway of a bar. When she wakes up, she finds that the protesters have disappeared and her boss is calling her wondering where she is. Cassandra is confused until she realizes she’s traveled back in time to earlier in the day, before it became awful. She begins to use her time traveling powers to try to fix her life and prevent the Very Bad Day from happening. She begins reversing small mistakes, getting confused about timelines, and using time travel to avoid a mysterious person from her past. Holly Smale’s “Cassandra in Reverse” is heartwarming with great characters that you’re sure to root for.

Camden McTavish wants nothing to do with the family of his late adopted mother, the infamous Ruby McTavish. She was the victim of a childhood kidnapping and a widow four times over; she’s even rumored to have killed each of her husbands. When his uncle dies ten years after Ruby, Camden must at last go home to the Ashby House in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains to deal with her affairs and face the family she snubbed in her will. He might also finally find the truth about his mother’s history and the Ashby House’s legacy. “The Heiress” is a suspenseful read. Rachel Hawkins is a master at unraveling characters’ secrets inch by tantalizing inch.

Riley Wynn has just released her breakthrough album, consisting of twelve breakup songs based on real relationships. Everyone thinks that the number one hit “Until You” is about her movie star ex and he’s basking in the attention, which makes Riley furious. Until she reunites with her college boyfriend Max, who is the real inspiration for the song. Can she convince Max to tour with her to reclaim the song, and possibly give their romance another try? Emily Wibberly’s “The Breakup Tour” is a sweet romance inspired by pop superstar Taylor Swift.

It’s the early 1970s and Astrid Bricard wants two things: to be a renowned fashion designer and to escape the legacy of her mother Mizza Bricard, famous for being the mistress and muse of designer Christian Dior. When Astrid meets designer Hawk Jones, lightning strikes. The two are wild about each other and constantly inspire each other’s designs. But Astrid never gets any credit: the press continually attributes her work to Hawk and compares her to her mother. The pressure increases until Astrid is at her breaking point. She suddenly disappears right before the most important show of her life, leaving only a blood-soaked gown behind. What happened to Astrid Bricard? Natasha Lester’s “The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard” weaves together the stories of three generations of women forced to run the gauntlet of public opinion and wrest their legacies from naysayers.

Ola and Michael are in nearly-wedded bliss. The power couple is succeeding both at home and professionally, to the envy of their online followers. But Ola’s trust is rocked when Michael appears on a crowdsourced list of men accused of a variety of allegations. Michael proclaims his innocence, but can Ola trust him? The couple has a lot to figure out as their wedding looms. Yomi Adegoke’s “The List” was a fascinating exploration of relationships, social media, and the Me Too era.
