Hub Club 40th anniversary Farm Show door prize winners announced
The New Ulm Farm-City Hub Club was excited to be “back in the arena”–to be able to hold its annual farm show at the New Ulm Civic Center March 11-12. With this show being the 40th annual–or “ruby”–event, special “red” door prizes were offered.
A grand prize and six additional “red” prizes were awarded to adults in drawings completed at the close of the show March 12.
A red collapsible wagon filled with other red items donated by the club, club members, and area businesses was won by Patty Filzen of New Ulm.
Winning the six other “red” adult door prizes were Kyle Miller of Hanska, and Pat Kretsch, Merry Seymour, Brent Bolduan, Madilyn Portner, and Vernon Watkins, all of New Ulm.
A special kids’ prize drawing also featured “red” items. Winning the first prize, a little red wagon, was Parker Flink of New Ulm. Additional kids’ prizes went to Xavier Gieseke and Ava Simon of New Ulm, and Lincoln Horn of Courtland.
The usual Farm Show door prizes of fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide detectors were also awarded, courtesy of club members Don Sanderson State Farm Insurance of New Ulm, Community Insurance Agency of Lafayette, and Joe Maidl Auctioneering & Real Estate of Lafayette.
Winners of fire extinguishers were Al Schugel of Courtland, Joseph Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, and Dawn Sellner and Michelle Hofmann of New Ulm. Winners of carbon monoxide detectors were Chris Bruns of Lafayette, and Becky Bailey, Lois Wersal, and Rachel Ludewig of New Ulm.
Prize winners who have not already picked up their door prizes can do so at Don Sanderson’s State Fair insurance office at 1600 N. Broadway in New Ulm.
The club especially thanks Compeer Financials’ Fund for Rural America, United Farmers’ Cooperative, Thrivent, and Kwik Trip for their grants and extra support.
The Farm-City Hub Club thanks everyone who attended the show, as well as the vendors who made the 40th Annual New Ulm Farm Show a big success. Attendance was great and enthusiasm high.
New Ulm Lions say “Thank You” to Waffle Brunch patrons
The Lions Club of New Ulm would like to say “Thank you” to everyone who supported us at our Dad’s Belgian Waffle Brunch fundraiser on Sunday, February 27th. We would also like to thank the following for their support. Turner Hall, MLC Print Shop, New Ulm Chamber of Commerce, Cash Wise Foods, Hy-Vee Food Stores, KNUJ Radio, Shopper / Post Review, The Journal, McDonald’s Restaurant, Sid’s Signs on Broadway and Craig Dale.
We served over 800 waffle breakfasts and had a great time doing it. It is through projects like this, that the Lions Club of New Ulm, is able to help the Sight, Hearing, and Diabetes Impaired and other people in need.
