Park & Rec Report

Outdoor Ice at Harman is ready to skate and play hockey. Ice conditions vary because warm days are mixed in with cold days. For evening lights after 5:00, press the button on the light pole. Due to social distancing guidelines, the warming house will not be open. Please plan ahead.

Rec Center is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Masks must be worn at all times, including when working out or playing sports. Everyone entering must do a self-screening at the door prior to entering. If you answer yes to any of the questions, you may not enter. Everyone must check in at the Welcome desk prior to exercising and maintain 9′ physical distance. Members are asked to limit socializing while in the building. Please bring your own water bottle, as the water fountains remain turned off.

Fitness Classes do not require pre-registration, however, have limits, depending on where the class is offered. We are offering Zoom access to 5:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. fitness classes. Please use the code found on the Online Fitness Schedule. The instructor will check you in after class. Online Pre-registration required for Zoom access to Weekend Warrior Classes and Zumba. A Zoom link can be added for members with a 24-hour or more pre-request to all other classes. Please reach out to sandyb@newulmmn.gov or 233-2121, extension 204 to get a link added for a class. Classes are included in Memberships or are $5 per class without a membership. Please check the schedule at newulmmn.gov

2021 Team-based Weight Loss Challenge is a 6-week challenge in hybrid format of online and in-person offerings. Teams consist of 3 to 6 participants and fees are based on each individual’s membership status. Team name is required in order to register. The program begins February 8th. Register online and at the Rec Center. Please reach out to sandyb@newulmmn.gov with any questions.

Please check the website for open skate, figure skate, hockey, broomball and rock on ice dates/times. The Next Rock on Ice is scheduled for Friday, February 26. Pre-registration is required online at newulmmn.gov or at the Rec Center. Skate rentals available. Limited to 25.

The Community Center – Meals on Wheels and takeout meals are operating. Call 359-2243 for delivery or reserve a meal for pick up.

Rec Center Construction Update – Helical piers for the pool foundation are being placed. Sheetrocking in several areas is underway. Construction photos of the progress can be found on our Facebook page.

German Park Amphitheater – Phase 1 construction is complete! Thank you to all past donors! Fundraising continues for Phase 2 the shade structure and Phase 3 performance stage.
