Brown County seeks RFP for statewide affordable housing aid

2 min read

Brown County has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for projects seeking support through the Statewide Affordable Housing Aid (SAHA), a statewide initiative designed to develop and preserve affordable housing, prevent housing instability, and support Minnesotans experiencing homelessness.

SAHA funding, certified annually by the Minnesota Department of Revenue, provides essential resources to counties, tribal governments, and greater Minnesota communities for projects that expand and sustain affordable housing options.

Brown County invites proposals that address a broad range of housing needs, including:

• Emergency rental assistance for households earning below 80% of area median income

• Financial support for nonprofit affordable housing providers

• Development of market-rate rental housing in qualifying rural areas (per M.S. 462A.39)

• Construction, acquisition, rehabilitation, demolition, or removal of housing structures

• Construction or financing activities that make homes affordable for households earning up to 115% of median income for ownership, or up to 80% of median income for rental units.

Brown County's currently available funds total $100,000, with proposals due at 4:30 pm September 30, 2026, as part of the county's quarterly review cycle.
