The books of Assessor Fred. Pfaender were carefully examined, and adjustments in the assessments of real estate and personal property in the city of New Ulm made wherever this was deemed necessary, by the local board of review, recently. Assessor Pfaender's books reveal much interesting data relative to local taxation matters, which, no doubt, will be eagerly perused by the taxpayers.
Total Value $13,053,863.
For instance, the full, value of all property (including money and credits, which is $922,227, in the city of New Ulm aggregates $13,053,863.But of this amount, $1,825,170 in real estate is exempt from taxation, and includes the value of New Ulm's churches, schools, school lots, hospitals, Dr. Martin Luther college, Turner hall, property of the New Ulm Rural Telephone Co. on which a gross earnings tax is paid to the state, courthouse and county jail, county poor farm, postoffice, fair grounds, municipal buildings, public parks, and all other public property within the city limits.
Last year, the total value of all property in New Ulm (including money and credits, which were $984,000), was $12,308,239, or $745,624 less than this year.
Only $3,898,086 Taxed.
While the full value of all real estate and personal property, except money and credits, but including the tax exempt real estate, is $12,131,636 in New Ulm this year, the total assessed valuation of all taxable property, except money and credits, is only $3,898,086, or about one-third of the full value. The full value of the real estate in the city is $9,872,002, as against an assessed valuation of $3, -208,286,and the full value of personal property aggregates $2,259,634, compared with an assessed valuation of $689,800. The full value of all taxable property within the city limits, except money and credits, is $10,306, -466,or nearly three times the assessed valuation.
Last Year's Figures.
Last year, the total value of the real estate in New Ulm was $11,324,239, according to the assessor's records. The total value of exempted real property was $1,363,610, while the assessed valuation of the real property aggregated $3,093,351. The full value of the personal property listed by the assessor in 1925 was $2,199,721,while the assessed valuation was $700,129. The full value of all taxable property, except money and credits, was $960,629, last year.
