The mayors of Ulm and Neu Ulm Germany will make their first public appearance in New Ulm at the official opening of Heritagefest, 7 p.m. today at the Brown County Fairgrounds.

The Mayors, Dr. Hans Lorenser of Ulm and Dr. Dietrich Lang of Neu Ulm, and their interpreter, Hans Joohs of Ulm, will be accompanied by the chief editors of two Ulm papers. The editors are Gustav More of the Sudwest Presse and Herbert Blume of the Schwabische Zeitung.

THE PARTY arrived at Twin Cities International Airport at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday. They were greeted at the airport by Dr. T. R. Fritsche and Mayor Carl Wyczawski.

This morning they were to visit the State Capitol, then go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

A private dinner at the home of the George Korenchens was planned tonight after the Heritagefest opening.

Tomorrow’s activities start at 7:30 a.m. when the party leaves for the Lower Sioux Agency near Morton. After lunch at Dr. and Mrs. T.R. Fritsche’s, the men will visit New Ulm sites-Hermann Monument, a public school,Schell Gardens and taproom, Domeier’s Store and Brown County Museum.

A Lion-Rotary joint dinner is set for Friday night. Dr. Lorenser is a member of the Ulm Lions Club, Dr. Lang a Rotarian.

SATURDAY MORNING the party will take a flight over New Ulm, followed by free time for shopping. The Brown County Courthouse Dedication at 11 a.m. will be followed by lunch at the Gartenfest in Turner Park where the visitors will meet the public.

A special cannon firing for the mayors is set for 3 p.m. at the New Ulm Battery’s Second Annual Cannon and Musket Shoot. The rest of the afternoon is free time until the Fest Keg Tapping Ceremony at Heritagefest at 6:30 p.m. with dinner, exhibits and meeting of the public. The party will attend the Hermannstraum pageant at 9:15p.m.

Sunday morning the party will attend church, then go to a brunch at 11 a.m. The 1:30 p.m. parade will be followed by a review of historic troops at 3 p.m. at the fairgrounds. At 4 p.m. there will be a presentation of dignitaries at the fairgrounds.

An official city dinner is set for 6p.m. Sunday, with the party scheduled to fly out of Twin Cities International Airport early Monday.
