Freight Cars Off Rails Near Ravine Two Wrecking Crews Called Immediately After To Clear Track

Broken flanges of car wheels on a car of wheat were responsible for the wrecking of four cars in a freight train on the Minneapolis & St. Louis railroad near this city Saturday morning about 8:30. Very little damage was done and no one was injured in the pile-up.

Two Crews Busy

The accidents occurred in the big cut in Fritsche’s ravine near this city when a carload of wheat went off the track, thereby throwing off an empty freight car and two stock cars. Within a very short time two wrecking crews arrived on the scene, one crew coming from St. James, and the other from the Cedar Lake shops of the Company which are located in Minneapolis.

Evening Train On Time

Passengers on the passenger from the north due here at 12:40 were transferred to the train going south, while passengers on the train from the south were transferred to the train going north so there was no tie up in the service, other than the trains being late. The wrecking crews worked diligently and had the tracks cleared in five or six hours so that the evening passenger from the north came in on time.
