With the spring primaries still two months away politics in this county are beginning to take life. Rumors have been drifting around during the past few weeks that there would be opposition for practically every office in the courthouse and it seems now as if the rumors will be true.
Bauch Files for Treasurer.
Julius Bauch of Springfield was in New Ulm Monday and threw his derby into the political arena by filing as candidate for the office of County |Treasurer. Mr. Bauch owns and operates a general merchandise store in Springfield and is well-known in the western part of the county. County Treasurer Henry J. Berg has not as yet filed for re-election but there is no doubt but that he will be a candidate for the treasurership which office he has held for the past twenty years.
Carlson Files For Sheriff.
The only other candidate who has signified his intention of running for office so far is Palm Carlson of Comfrey who has entered the race for Sheriff of Brown County. Mr. Carlson has lived in this county for the past thirty years, being a resident of Comfrey for twenty seven years, or practically since the town was started. For twelve years he ran a livery and feed stable and during the past fifteen years has been buying and selling stock and following the profession of auctioneer. Sheriff Julius will undoubtedly be a candidate for re-election although he has not filed up to the time of this writing.
All To Seek Re-Election
Although none of the county officers have filed it is understood that every one of them will make the run for re-election to their respective offices. The only officer who will not be up for re-election is Judge of Probate Mather, whose term does not expire until 1928. May 31st is the last day for filing for county office.
