Monday evening the New Ulm Commercial Club met for the first time in several months. After discussing the condition of the club it was decided to hold an election of officers for the ensuing year and leave the future course of the club to the new board.

Will Change Quarters

The committee which was appointed several months ago to devise some plan whereby the club could be brought into active life again could not report as the chairman of the committee was out of town. However, one thing was decided upon at the meeting Monday evening and that was to try and secure new quarters which would not be so expensive to the club. J.P. Graff stated that it was time that the club members realize that they cannot continue going on the way that they have. As long as the dues received will pay only for the upkeep of the rooms the club will not survive and, as the city has a large city hall for which the tax-payers have paid, Mr. Graff stated that he saw no reason why the Commercial Club should not use it. A committee consisting of F. W. Johnson, L. B. Krook, J. P. Graff, J. A. Ken-and M. J. Bieber was then appointed to interview the city fathers and obtain their consent to such an arrangement.

New Board of Directors

President J. A. Kennedy of the club appointed a nominating committee who recommended the election of the following men as directors of the club: Geo. Haynes, P. J. Eichten, A. R. Walsh, F. H. Retzlaff, R. H. Swartz, F. H. Behnke and A. C. Stoltenburg. They were all elected by acclamation and will serve as the Board of Directors for this year.

In Bad Financial Condition

The secretary of the club, Meyers Jorgenson, read his annual report which showed that the financial standing of the club was not so good. The club at the S present time is insolvent having about $400 debts and no assets outside of the furniture in the club rooms. There are many dues which are in arrears but whether these can be collected is doubtful. Whether the new board of direct-ors can work out some feasible plan to continue the club remains to be seen.
