The year 1925 was one of the busiest in the history of the Loretto hospital of this city, when a total of 902 patients were treated at that institution. Of these, 536 submitted to surgical operations, while 340 received medical attention, and 26 remained in the hospital, December 31,1924. The number of patients remain-ing at the institution, December 31, 1925, was 22.
A total of 81 obstetrical cases were taken care of at the hospital during the past twelvemonth, and the number of babies born was 82, two of them being twins. The births included 48 boys and 34 girls. Two caesarean sections were performed.
Of the total number of patients treated, 610 were discharged as cured, 154 as improved, and 30 showed no noticeable improvement, while 60 passed away.
Included in the 536 surgical cases, are 196 tonsillectomies. A total of 84 X-rays were taken, and the number of nursing days aggregated 10,595, including the charity nursing days, of which 3,245 are recorded in the annual report. The total number of accident cases taken care of at the hospital was 37.
