LEGION POST ACTS ON IMPORTANT MATTERS
Swimming Pool, Boy Scout
Troop and Drum Corps Arouse
Interest.
At the meeting of the Ben J.
Seifert Post of the American Legion
held at the Armory Monday
evening action in several different
lines was taken by the members.
The swimming pool was a live issue
and took up a good deal of time. T.
O. Streissguth reported that he had
communicated with an engineer
in Michigan who assures the Post
that he can build a swimming pool
along the lines of the pool as originally
proposed by the Post for a sum
which will not exceed $20,000. Mr.
Streissguth, Jos. Epple and Alfred
Wiedemann were appointed as a
committee to secure local costs, including
material and labor, and send
them to the Engineer who will then
submit a plan with the total cost.
This information will be given out
at the next regular meeting.
Organize Boy Scout Troop
R. J. Stewart was appointed a
committee of one to organize a Boy
Scout Troop. This has been one of
the aims of the Post for many months
past and it is one in which the interest
of the residents of this city should
be aroused. A girl scout organization
has been functioning here for several
years past and is a great success. The
boys of the city will be glad to know
that at last they will have the opportunity
of taking part in the work of
the boy scout troops. Mr. Stewart
will have a complete report to submit
at the next meeting of the Post.
Will Have Drum Corps
The Ben J. Seifert Post of the
American Legion will have a Drum
Corps to accompany them on their
trips to conventions in the future and
it will also take part in activities of
the Post. Dan Griffith, Harry Brand
and Ervin Schrader were named as a
committee to get busy on the organization
of the corps.
At the next regular meeting the
officers for the ensuing year will be
elected. Legion members are urged
to be present to assist with this work.
Represented At Omaha
J. F. Teichrow, named as one of
the four district delegates to the National
Legion Convention to be held
in Omaha October 4 to 10, will leave
New Ulm Saturday evening in company
with Harry Lang for the Convention
City going by car. Elmer
Held, who will also attend the Convention,
will make the trip by train.
