With the arrest of Norman Ryan,and the killing of Harry Brown, notorious bank robbers and bandits in Minneapolis recently, and the arrest of several other men, suspected of bank looting from the outside, it is believed by interested officials that the bandit gang, which robbed the Klossner and Cleveland banks some weeks ago, has been broken up.
Two of Ryan's Jobs.
Following both robberies Twin City police alleged that they were the work of Ryan and his gang. Timothy "One-Eyed" Murphy, who is also believed to be implicated in the two bank jobs, is in Huron, S. D., where he is facing another charge. It is said that another of the band, John Hanrahan, is being held at Ft. Dodge, Ia., on a charge of shooting an officer with intent to kill and that yet another is in the reformatory at St. Cloud, serving a sentence for robbery in that vicinity.
Mankato Hangout.
A number of facts have come to light, following the Minneapolis cleanup, that has bearing upon the two robberies in this vicinity. Mankato is said to have been the hangout of the band. The man, who stole the Ed Carnes auto at Judson, is said to be Hanrahan and the machine has definitely been connected with the Klossner raid. The car was returned to Mr. Carnes, after it was found in the Twin Cities.
It is claimed that the robbers visited a house in North Mankato on the night of the Klossner robbery and that the Cleveland bandits also made their getaway to that place is now almost certain.
It is reported that bolts and torn bits of money wrappers believe to have originated at the two jobs, have been found in rooms of the suspects.
It is likely that in the near future the members of the gang will be rounded up.
