Due process is a human right

To the editor: First, a reminder to Mr Platz and the Journal editorial staff: The title of Mr Platz’s letter to the editor of 7-31-25 referred to an “AP poll” when in fact it was about a Gallup Poll in an AP article. Regardless of a reader’s opinion of Associated Press articles, the Gallup Poll is a highly respected organization for factual information. Mr Platz’s words of caution are warranted regardless of the source of articles and information. Thanks for the reminder. Taking Mr Plaz’s words to heart, I watched the video mentioned. I also looked up Mr Roy Beck. I ...

Don’t believe AP poll on immigration is accurate

To the editor: A front page Journal article on July 12-13 spoke of US views from a “Gallop Poll”. The Associated Press article said the polls suggest U.S. citizens have decreasing support for President Trump’s deportations and “other anti-immigration policies”. I believe quite the opposite is true. President Trump and U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement leader Tom Homan have huge support in their mission to deport illegal aliens from this country. Immigration Czar Kamala Harris under Joe Biden was an embarrassment. I hope both Trump and Homan keep the hammer down and ...

Republicans wasting their chances

To the editor: On July 3, I watched in dismay as Republicans gathered ’round the President to give a final attestation to the criminally cruel bill for which 47 had begged. I’m sure that the chronically spineless House members, who have stayed clear of town halls in droves, are clandestinely conjuring up alternate truths to vindicate themselves when the reality of cuts to Medicaid hits the fan. I’m sure they’ll pull their best Pilate to wash their hands of it and absolve themselves from any responsibility for the bill’s passage. This is reminiscent of the cut to America’s ...

Finstad’s quip is not enough

To the editor: Mr (U.S. Rep. Brad) Finstad: While your quip regarding the Department of Education at the April 2025 CCW Convention was quick (“The Department of Education doesn’t actually education anyone.”), it is inaccurate nor does it address the work this department is required to do. The Department of Education educates and provides funding to educate teachers. The Department of Education educates and supports parents, teachers, state Departments of Education, local school district administration and the public on providing education for the most vulnerable children with ...

Waste – what is the definition?

To the editor: Mr (U.S. Rep. Brad) Finstad said he is proud to vote for the Recessions Act as an act to eliminate “waste”. Perhaps I don’t understand the waste in SNAP and Public Media. I understand fraud and improved efforts to see financial assistance gets to the people who need it. I understand focused funding to provide priority educational efforts. Perhaps I need the definition of waste used by Mr Finstad in this context. Perhaps Mr Finstad didn’t mean to use the word “waste”. But he did. What else is a “waste”? What else can we look forward to being ...

There can be but one explanation

To the editor: I’ve been an interested observer for several years to find out some truths about pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, and as an avid critic of the president and his party, I’ve waited patiently to find out more about Epstein’s client list and details about his apparent suicide while in the custody of 45’s department of justice. With Epstein’s favorite girlfriend/procurer, Ghislaine Maxwell, behind bars for her role in Epstein’s shenanigans, (Hmmm…A woman is the only person being punished. Give her another twenty years.) the scandalous list detailing Epstein’s ...
