John “Skip” Baier

John “Skip” Baier Jr., 75, of New Ulm died Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH Chapel in New Ulm. Burial will Follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday. John is survived by his cousins. John Robert Baier Jr. was born May 11, 1947, in New Ulm to John and Rona (Oakhill) Baier.

James Anderson

James Anderson, 85, of New Ulm died Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, at First United Methodist Church in New Ulm. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel and will continue 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday at church. LaDonna “Donna” Shult

WINTHROP — LaDonna “Donna” Shult, 89, of Winthrop died Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Lodge in Winthrop. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 10, and will continue one hour prior to the service, ALL at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Arrangements are with the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop.

Dorothy M. Martens

Dorothy M. Martens, 95, of New Ulm, formerly of Lafayette, died Monday, February 20, 2023 at the New Ulm Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11 at the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette. Burial will be at a later date in the First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11 at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is assisting the family. NEW ULM — Marlene Helen Rolloff, 89, of New Ulm died on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, at the church. A full obituary will be featured in Saturday’s edition of The Journal. Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm is in charge of arrangements.

Sr. Marie Grossman, CSJ

Marie Grossman, CSJ, was humble, thoughtful, and a compassionate, attentive listener, who spent a lifetime rolling up her sleeves to meet the needs of the dear neighbor. She was born and raised on a farm in Chokio, MN, on June 27, 1923, to John and Anne (Leuthard) Grossman, and died peacefully at Carondelet Village in St. Paul, MN, on February 25, 2023. After graduation, Marie answered the call to serve her country during WWII, by working as a riveter at Boeing Aircraft, in Seattle, WA.
