NEW ULM — Brown County commissioners unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday ratifying a state of emergency for flood damage from recent rain events. 4-H report claims positive impact on youth across county

NEW ULM — Brown County commissioners heard the annual 4-H impact report including the number of youth served and the positive impacts made across the County Tuesday. “The mission of 4-H is to engage youth, in partnership with caring adults, to reach their potential as active citizens in a global community,” said Brown County 4-H Youth Development Educator Janessa Palmer. Nicollet City Council approves retirement rate for fire relief association

The Nicollet City Council approve the Nicollet Fire Relief Association Retirement Rate during the June 10 meeting. After discussion, the council approved the retirement rate to $3,400 per year of service rate. It will require a $0 mandatory contribution. The 2025 deferred interest rate will be 2% which is no change from 2023. In other news, some personnel issues were discussed and approved. Mankato man dies in Highway 60 crash

MANKATO — A 64-year-old Mankato man died in a two-vehicle crash on TH 60, Judson Township, Blue Earth County reported at 4:22 a.m. Sunday. Timothy Lee Volk, 64, Mankato, was driving a 2016 Dodge Caravan eastbound on Highway 60 when he suffered fatal injuries after colliding with an eastbound 2017 Freightliner tractor driven by Douglas Troy Perez, 51, Coon Rapids. Volk did not wear a seat belt, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. It was unknown if alcohol was involved. Perez wore a seat belt and was not injured. The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and Mankato Police assisted.

Flood warning for Cottonwood, Minnesota Rivers at New Ulm

BLUE EARTH, BROWN COUNTY — The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office warned residents of dangerous conditions on and near area rivers Friday and told people to stay off them for the foreseeable future. “The forecast for the rest of Friday and into Saturday will only make the river conditions worse.
