Meet author Teresa Peterson

NEW ULM — New Ulm Public library will hold a special story time with author Teresa Peterson at 10 a.m. on Wednesday Aug. 28.

Peterson will read her new picture book, “Grasshopper Girl,” and give some insight on the story behind the book and her life growing up Dakota.

Refreshments will be served afterwards. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

CHS Class of 1969 Reunion in September

NEW ULM — The Cathedral High School Class of 1969 is hosting a 50-year class reunion on Friday, Sept. 20.

A social and dinner will be held at the Best Western Plus in New Ulm. For details see the website cathedralgreyhounds69.site123.me.

Jefferson School Open House on Aug. 27

NEW ULM — Jefferson Elementary School will hold an Open House at the school on Aug. 27 and 28 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

During Open House, students in Grades 1-4 and their parents/guardians will have the opportunity to meet the teachers, have school pictures taken, pick up and fill out school forms, bring school supplies, deposit money in lunch accounts and find student lockers and desks before the first day of school.

Learn about Rocks at Community Garden

NEW ULM — Did you know that cactuses and rock outcroppings can be found in New Ulm? Did you know that they exist right across the river from the community garden? Join the New Ulm Community Garden (1915 S. Valley St.) on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. to learn about local geological points of interest in our area from John Paulsen, Professor Emeritus.

Prof. Paulsen taught various science courses, including earth science, at Dr. Martin Luther College (DMLC) which was renamed Martin Luther College (MLC). This program will be of interest to anyone who has a love for rocks and an interest in learning about local geology.

3M Retirees Club to meet Sept. 4

NEW ULM — The 3M Retiree Club will meet September 4, 2019 at the New Ulm Country Club, with social time beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The speaker will be Tom Romaine, who will give a history of the New Ulm Fire Department, from their beginning to the present time.
