Donaldson powers Twins to win
MINNEAPOLIS — Josh Donaldson hit his first home run as a Minnesota Twin and the Twins scored five times in the bottom of the second inning to beat the Cardinals 6-3.
Donaldson was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Homer Bailey picked up his first win as a Twin. Bailey went five innings, allowed two runs and four hits. He struck out four and didn’t allow a run until the top of the fifth when he gave up a home run to Tyler O’Neill.
Jorge Polanco went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs for the Twins, now 3-1 on the season.
Carlos Martinez took the loss for the Cardinals. He allowed six runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.
Tommy Edman was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI for the Cardinals and Matt Carpenter picked up a pair of hits.
