MINNEAPOLIS – The Martin Luther College women’s basketball team opened up its 2025-26 season on the road at Augsburg. The Knights played the Auggies tough in the first half and held a lead for a bit in the second quarter as the score was tied 24-24 at the half. However, Augsburg outscored MLC 29-14 in the third quarter their defensive intensity to defeat the Knights 69-48.

In the first half, the MLC locked Augsburg down defensively, holding the Auggies to under 19 percent shooting from the floor. It was a similar pathway to success for their 56-50 victory over Augbsurg last season in December in New Ulm. In that game, the Knights only allowed one made 3-pointer out of 20 attempts.

In the third quarter of tonight’s game, Augsburg connected on four of eight 3-point attempts and shot nearly 69 percent to take a double-digit advantage. The Auggies also forced 21 turnovers out of MLC and held a 23-8 edge in points off turnovers, giving them extra opportunities as they cooled off in the fourth quarter from the field.

Mya Morris led the way for the Knights, with a game-high 19 points and six rebounds. Wilhelmina Wenz was active on the glass for the MLC backcourt, grabbing eight boards.

MLC will play its first home game of the season on Saturday, November 15, at 7 p.m. against St. Kate’s.

Starting at $4.50/week.
