BOYS BASKETBALL

New Ulm 89, TCU 53

MONTGOMERY — New Ulm crushed Tri-City United 89-53 on Tuesday in a nonconference boys basketball game.

Colton Benson led the Eagles with 21 points. James Osborne had 17 points while Nate Firle added 12 points. Mason Epper and Collin Horning each scored 11 points.

New Ulm (13-3, 8-1) will host Worthington on Thursday.

BLHS 84, Cathedral 73

HECTOR — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart downed New Ulm Cathedral 84-73 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball game.

Jevan Wilfahrt led the Greyhounds with 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Jake Finstad had 19 points and six assists. Miles Boesch and Isaac Miller scored 8 points each.

BLHS (5-12, 4-6) will play at Springfield (7-8, 6-4) on Friday. Cathedral will host Sleepy Eye (5-11, 2-9) on Friday.

SESM 75, Cedar Mountain 68, OT

MORGAN — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s edged Cedar Moiuntain 75-68 in overtime on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball game.

Jon Petermann scored a career-high 28 points. He also had eight assists and seven rebounds. Kaleb Wait added 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Will Walker had 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists. George Schwint added 6 points and seven rebounds, and Owen Weiss scored four points. Mark Anderson added 4 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Branndon Pendleton led Cedar Mountain with 21 points, while Dakota Pendleton-Sam scored 19 points.

St. Mary’s (14-4, 11-1) will host Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey on Thursday. Cedar Mountain (6-8, 4-4) will host Springfield (7-8, 6-4) on Thursday.

Sleepy Eye 62, Wabasso 45

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye topped Wabasso 62-45 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball game.

Marcus Martinez led the Indians with 24 points, six rebounds and six assists. Isaac Lendt scored 14 points and had four rebounds and five assists.

Sleepy Eye (6-11, 3-9) will play at New Ulm Cathedral (6-10, 2-9) on Friday. Wabasso (3-13, 2-8) will play at Cedar Mountain (6-8, 4-4) on Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BLHS 86, Cathedral 23

HECTOR– Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart topped New Ulm Cathedral 86-23 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game.

Ava Krueger and Jenna Hotovec each scored 7 points for the Greyhounds. Margo Finstad added 5 points.

Cathedral (5-12, 3-8) will play at Sleepy Eye (13-6, 9-3) on Thursday.

SESM 66, Wabasso 44

WABASSO — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Wabasso 66-44 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game.

Allie Labat led the Knights with 19 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals. Morgan Mathiowetz added 16 points, four assists and four steals. Liz Schwint contributed 15 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and two assists.

Sophia Hanna led the Rabbits with 12 points, while Sara Carlson and Kelsey Frank each scored 10 points.

St. Mary’s (14-4, 9-3) will play at Minnesota Valley Lutheran (1-16, 0-10) on Feb. 7. Wabasso (6-12, 4-8) will host Cedar Mountain (6-12, 3-8) on Friday.

St. Clair 63, Nicollet 57

ST. CLAIR — St. Clair took a win over Nicollet 63-57 on Tuesday in a Valley Conference girls basketball game.

Brooklyn Hinze led the Cyclones with 23 points and Brooklyn Meng scored 19 points.

Leah Bode led the Raiders with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Shannon Soost added 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Nicollet (9-13, 5-6) will play at Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther on Friday.

Cedar Mountain 51,

LAMBERTON — Cedar Mountain defeated Red Rock Central 51-37 on Tuesday in nonconference girls basketball action.
