MVL/NUC boys, girls each take 1st at Sleepy Eye Meet Monday

SLEEPY EYE — The Minnesota Valley Lutheran/New Ulm Cathedral boys’ and girls’ track and field teams finished first out of five schools on Monday at a Sleepy Eye meet.

The Charger boys finished with 163 points, while the MVL girls finished with 115 points.

For the boys, Nick Bleick took first in the long jump (17-8.25) and 400-meter dash (56.84), Joey Goeglin took first in the triple jump (36-9) and Isaac Schmidt tied for first in the high jump (5-2). The Charger boys also took first in the 4×100-meter relay (48.75) and 4×200-meter relay (1:43.5).

For the girls, Kaylee Hunter took first in the triple jump (32-8), Rylee Wolter took first in the high jump (4-8), Mia Johnson took first in the 400-meter dash and Clare Fischer took first in both the 3,200 (12:40.39) and 1,600 (6:02.69). The MVL/NUC girls also took first in the 4×200 relay (2:02.28) and 4×100 relay (59.1).
