Guidelines set up for attending football games

NEW ULM — Those who are planning on watching high school football in New Ulm this Friday or Saturday are going to be limited for seating and — in one case — may not be able to see the game in person at all.

And if you are able to attend, you are going to have to abide by some restrictions.

At 7 p.m. on Friday night, New Um Cathedral hosts Adrian. Crowd limit for the game is 250 with 150 fans from Cathedral allowed and 100 from Adrian.

Parents of Cathedral football players and all coaches will receive a voucher and visitors from Adrian will have their vouchers from their school.

“Without a voucher, you will not be allowed into the game,” Cathedral Activities Director Alan Woitas said. “And we most likely will not have tickets available for sale to the public after family members get their vouchers. Masks are encouraged and social distancing is expected and will be enforced.”

Woitas also said that there will be no concessions sold at the game but fans can bring in concessions of their own into Johnson Field.

Any glass, however, is not allowed.

On Saturday, New Ulm High School hosts Marshall at noon at the New Ulm High School field.

NUHS Activities Director Troy Guentzel said that the capacity at the field is also 250 with 125 passes allocated for New Ulm fans and 125 for fans from Marshall.

Three passes will be given for every New Ulm High School 12th grade football and cheerleading participant with two passes available for other varsity football and cheerleading participants. The remaining passes are for coaches and spouses.

Guentzel said that no concessions will be sold at the game and any outside food or beverage is not recommended.

Masks and social distancing are encouraged. New Ulm fans must sit on the home field side of the field.
