Dragons knock out Eagles

ST. PETER — Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato erased an early 2-0 New Ulm first period lead and went on to down the Eagles 7-4 Saturday night in a Section 3A semifinal game.

Braxten Hoffmann scored two goals for the Eagles who see their season end with a 19-7-1 mark.

Glavine Schugel and Cade Bushard scored goals for New Ulm.

The Eagles had taken a fast 2-0 lead in the first period on Hoffmann goals coming two minutes apart.

But the Dragons tied the game at 2-2 after the first period before scoring three goals in the second period for a 5-2 lead.

Schugel cut the lead to 5-3 in the third period before New Ulm and Litchfield exchanged goals.

The Dragons sealed the game with an empty net goal with less than a minute left in the game.

Litchfield will now play Hutchinson Wednesday for the Section 3A title.
