FAIRFAX — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 83-72 on Friday in a Tomhawk Conference boys’ basketball game.

For St. Mary’s, Carson Domeier had 26 points, Nick Labat had 16 points and Trent Steffensmeier had 12 points.

GFW was led by Dominic Henrichs with 20 points, Johnnie Ambrose with 16 points and Damian Hopp with 14 points.

St. Mary’s plays against Cleveland at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Bethany Lutheran College. GFW hosts Wabasso ta 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cedar Mountain 58, Wabasso 55

WABASSO — Cedar Moutain defeated Wabasso 58-55 on Friday in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game.

Cedar Mountain was led by Trey Peterson-Juhl with 15 points, four assists and 12 rebounds. Also for Cedar Mountain, Chris Dow had 14 points, one assist and two rebounds and Nick Freitag had 11 points, four assits and five rebounds.

No stats were provided for Wabasso.

Wabasso hosts Dawson-Boyd at 7 p.m. on Monday. Cedar Mountain plays at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Sleepy Eye.

Sibley East 68,

Le Sueur-Henderson 64

Sibley East defeated Le Sueur-Henderson 68-64 on Friday in a Minnesota River Conference boys’ basketball game.

Sibley East was led by JaBez Bates with 20 points, Caleb Dose with 16 points and Aaron Flieth with 14 points.

New Ulm 3, Albert Lea 1

ALBERT LEA — Glavine Schugel scored his 150th career point as New Ulm defeated Albert Lea in a nonconference boys’ hockey game on Thursday night.

Trailing 1-0 in the first period, New Ulm’ Ethan O’Connor scored a power-play goal on an assist from Schugel and Teddy Giefer.

In the second period, New Ulm took a 2-1 lead on a goal from Noah Wilmes. The Eagles put the game away in the third period on Schugel’s goal. Josh Gulden assisted Wilmes’ goal in the second period.

Kyle Esser stopped 19 of 20 shots in the game.

New Ulm (16-6-1) hosts Windom on Saturday.
