Mound Westonka uses 4-goal third to breeze by New Ulm boys

MOUND — A four-goal third period was enough to give Mound Westonka a 5-2 win over New Ulm on Saturday in boys’ nonconference hockey action at the Thaler Hockey Arena.

Hunter Hulke scored both of New Ulm’s goals, one in the first period and one in the third, while Nolan Drill had two assists and Teagan Kamm added one assist. New Ulm goalie Kyle Esser stopped 33 of 38 shots on goal.

Elijah Goetz had 29 saves on 31 New Ulm shots on goal for Mound Westonka, while Max Krebsbach recorded a hat trick.

New Ulm was 1 for 5 on the power play, while Mound Westonka was 2 for 4.

New Ulm (0-1) is at Litchfield on Tuesday.
