NEW ULM — Four members of the Martin Luther College men’s soccer team received postseason honors from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) on Wednesday. Joe Graumann was named First Team All-UMAC, while James Nitz was named Second Team All-UMAC. Joshua Higgins and Clay Hirsch each received honorable mention.

Graumann earned his fourth all-conference honor after a season in which he led the Knights in goals (10), points (25), shots (67) and shots on goal (28). His 10 goals were good for fourth in the UMAC, while his 25 points were eighth-best.

Graumann was named Second Team All-UMAC in 2016 and 2017, and earned First Team All-UMAC and Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2018. He finished his career fourth in program history in career goals (38) and points (94), and tied for fifth in career assists (18).

Nitz received his first all-conference recognition following a strong sophomore season at right back. Nitz was a steady influence on an inexperienced back line and started 20 of the team’s 21 games.

Higgins started the season on the back line with Nitz, but moved to goalkeeper in the middle of the season due to injury. He started all eight UMAC contests and finished with a 2.06 goals against average and .830 save percentage in those games.

Hirsch played in all 21 games in the midfield and finished the season as one of the teams’ top play-makers. He finished with a team-best seven assists, three of which came in UMAC play, to go with nine total points.

Senior Nate Lemke was named the MLC recipient of the Sportsmanship Award, given to one player on each team who best exemplifies sportsmanship during the season.
