Prep football: Nicollet crushes W/WG, Eagles hold off Worthington, GFW remains unbeaten

Nicollet 43, WWG 14

NICOLLET — Jon Mans had a big night as Nicollet jumped out to a 43-0 lead at halftime and defeated Westbrook/Walnut Grove in a nine-man football game on Friday.

Mans threw for 165 yards (14 for 22) and three touchdowns. He also got it done on the ground, rushing four times for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Avery Northquest had four carries for 75 yards and a touchdown and he also had a receiving touchdown. He also had seven solo tackles and a sack.

Logan Shaw had two catches for 48 yards and a touchdown and Shane Stevensen had four catches for 41 yards and a touchdown. Ben Radke had a fumble recovery in the end zone for a defensive touchdown.

Nicollet (3-1) is at Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday.

New Ulm 26, Worthington 22

WORTHINGTON — Cole Ranweiler had another big game on the ground for New Ulm as the Eagles made a big defensive stop at the end and ran out the clock against Worthington in a South Central, Red District football game on Friday.

Ranweiler had 30 carries for 225 yards and two touchdowns to lead the New Ulm rushing attack. Nolan Drill had 12 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown and a nine-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Miller.

Defensively, the Eagles forced three turnovers. Drill had nine tackles and an interception and Teagan Kamm had eight tackles and a fumble recovery. Ranweiler had eight tackles and a blocked PAT and Brody Bolduan had 13 tackles and a fumble recovery. Hunter Hulke had eight tackles and Russell Hellundrung had seven tackles.

GFW 56, LCWM 12

LAKE CRYSTAL — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop remained undefeated as it defeated Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial in a South Central, Blue District football game on Friday.

GFW’s Evan Martin rushed for 208 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Thunderbirds. Treay Taylor had 69 yards rushing and a touchdown and Dominic Henrichs had 61 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Defensively, JC Munoz had 11 tackles for the Thunderbirds.

GFW hosts Martin County West on Friday.

RCW 42, Madelia 7

MADELIA — Renville County West rolled over Madelia 42-7 on Friday night in 9-man South District, West Subdistrict football action.

Madelia’s lone score of the night came in the fourth quarter on a 55-yard run by Ethan Arndt. Arndt also passed for 163 yards and rushed for 98 yards.

The Blackhawks (2-2) are at Mountain Lake Area on Friday.
