FULDA — In a rematch of the Section 3A title game from last year, Springfield dominated Murray County Central on Friday night in Southwest District, East Division play.

It was the third consecutive game that the Springfield didn’t allow a defensive touchdown. The only points the Tigers allowed this year came on an offensive turnover.

Decker Scheffler threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers. He also rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown.

Mason Rummel had 69 yards rushing and a touchdown and Nolan Hovland had 77 yards receiving and a touchdown. Jake Rosenstengel had five catches for 80 yards.

The Springfield defense limited MCC to just 86 yards of total offense.

Adrian 29, Sleepy Eye 13

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye scored two late touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as the Indians lost to Adrian on Friday night.

Jackson Huiras had a 22-yard touchdown run and Mason Sellner had an 8-yard touchdown run for the Indians.

Defensively, Juan Cortez finished with nine tackles and Matthew Sellner had 10 tackles.

Sleepy Eye (0-3) is at Springfield on Friday.

GFW 53, NYA 16

NORWOOD-YOUNG AMERICA — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Norwood-Young America 53-16 on Friday in a South Central District football game.

As a team, GFW had a total of 403 yards rushing. JC Munoz had two touchdowns and a 101 yards rushing. Ryan Lavrenz also had two touchdowns and 52 yards rushing. Evan Martin scored one touchdown and had 94 yards rushing.

GFW’s Charlie Steinhagen scored a touchdown off a 6-yard pass from Noah Strickfaden.

GFW hosts Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Madelia 12, GHEC/T 8

TRUMAN — Madelia defeated Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman 12-8 on Friday in a South West District football game.

Ethan Arndt scored a touchdown for Madelia off a 65-yard carry. Madelia’s second touchdown was scored by Ramiro Zamora off a 50-yard carry.

Arndt and Isaac Arduser each had an interception for Madelia.

Madelia (2-1) hosts Renville County West at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Fulda 22,

CM 8

MORGAN — Fulda defeated Cedar Mountain on Friday in nine-man football action.

Fulda scored the first two touchdowns of the game to take a 14-0 lead, but the Cougars when Cade Schiller completed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Caden Kleinschmidt to make it 14-8.

Fulda added a touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Vincent Ochs had 48 yards rushing and 62 yards receiving for the Cougars and Kleinschmidt had 80 yards receiving. Matt Zeug had 52 yards receiving.

Cedar Mountain (0-3) hosts Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday.

RCW 22, Nicollet 20

RENVILLE — Renville County West defeated Nicollet 22-20 on Friday in a South West District football game.

Nicollet’s Avery Northquest had two touchdowns and 19 carries for 148 yards rushing. Jon Mans scored a touchdown and had a total of 164 yards passing. Riley Hulke scored one touchdown and had nine catches for 80 yards receiving.

Northquest also had 13 tackles for Nicollet. Also for Nicollet, Ben Radke had 10 tackles and Nathan Duis had two interceptions.

Nicollet (2-1) hosts Westbook/Walnut Grove at 7 p.m. on Friday.
