Hanska tops Stark in 11 innings

Hanska 10, Stark 9, 11 innings

STARK — The Hanska Lakers got past the Stark Longhorns in 11 innings of Tomahawk East League amateur baseball on Sunday, with Eric Portner scoring the winning run after a leadoff single.

Cole Wellmann scored Portner on a sac fly to left. Dayton Larson took to win for Hanska in three innings of relief, giving up three hits and no runs with a strikeout.

Wellmann, Portner, Zach Fischer, Kyle Fischer, Brady Mosenden and Matt Suess all had two hits apiece for Hanska, with Wellmann leading the way in RBIs with three. Kyle Fischer and Mosenden also homered for Hanska.

For the Longhorns, Adam Sellner took the loss in 3 2/3 innings of relief, giving up one hit, two walks and two unearned runs with a strikeout.

Mitch Neid was 3 for 6 with two RBIs and a homer for Stark, while Dusty Mangen went 3 for 6 with two runs scored. Brandon Helget was 2 for 5 with three RBIs and a homer for Stark.

Sleepy Eye 8, Courtland 7,

10 innings

COURTLAND — Off of Carter Brinkman’s go-ahead base hit in the 10th inning on Sunday, the Sleepy Eye Indians came back to beat the Courtland Cubs 8-7 in 10 innings of Tomahawk East League amateur baseball.

Brinkman was 2 for 6 with two RBIs for the Indians, while Matt Mielke was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Sam Tessmer was 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Indians.

Dylan Klein got the win for Sleepy Eye in five innings of relief work, allowing no hits, no runs and three walks with seven strikeouts.

Logan Anderson took the loss for the Cubs in 1 2/3 innings, giving up a hit and a walk for one earned run with three strikeouts.

Matt Stein was 2 for 4 with three RBIs for Courtland, while Chase Meyer was 1 for 3 with two RBIs.

Springfield 12,

Sleepy Eye 4

SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Tigers took down the Sleepy Eye Indians 12-4 on Saturday in Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action.

Brandon Wilhelmi got the win for the Tigers, pitching six innings and allowing five hits and two walks for one unearned run. He struck out three.

Jacob Poehler, Branden Flock, Mitchell Leonard and Wilhelmi all added two hits and two RBIs each for Springfield, while Carter Erickson had two hits, three runs scored and an RBI.

Alex Sellner took the loss for Sleepy Eye in seven innings, giving up 10 hits and three walks for seven earned runs with three strikeouts.

Joey Walter and Carter Brinkman each added two hits and an RBI for the Indians.

Springfield 5, Essig 0

ESSIG — Springfield blanked the Essig Bluejays 5-0 on Sunday in Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action.

Justin Haugo pitched eight innings in the win for Springfield, giving up seven hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.

Jacob Poehler led Springfield at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a run scored and a triple, while Carter Erickson was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Branden Flock also went 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored for the Tigers.

Alex Guggisberg took the loss for the Bluejays in six innings of work, giving up six hits and a walk for three earned runs while striking out six.

Essig was led by Jordan Guggisberg at the plate, who went 2 for 5.
