Gold falls to Anoka, ekes by Waite Park

ST. CLOUD — New Ulm Legion Gold went 1-1 on Friday in legion baseball tournament action, falling 7-0 to Anoka in six innings before edging Waite Park 2-1 in seven innings to end the day at Faber Field.

In the loss to Anoka, Gold was led by Jaden Domeier, who was 2 for 4. Gold got two more hits in the game against Anoka, a single each by Braden Zimmerman and Teagan Kamm.

Aaron Portner took the loss in 1 2/3 innings, giving up six earned runs on a pair of walks and seven hits.

In the narrow win over Waite Park, Gold was again led by Domeier, who was 2 for 4 with a run scored, while Kamm and Hunter Ranweiler each had a hit and an RBI apiece and Josh Seidl added a double.

Mark Schommer got the win for Gold, pitching a complete-game one-hitter and allowing just one unearned run and a walk. He struck out eight.

Gold continues tournament action in St. Cloud on Saturday.
