Amateur baseball: Fischer has big day for Hanska Lakers in win over Tigers, Essig tops Searles

HANSKA — Hanska defeated Springfield 13-8 in Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action on Friday.

Gary Wilfahrt pitched two innings to get the win for Hanska. He allowed two hits and one earned run. Cole Wellmann gave up five runs on 10 hits over five innings as the starting pitcher for the Lakers.

Kyle Fischer was 3 for 5 with five RBIs for Hanska and Lucas Fredin was 2 for 5 with two runs scored. Eric Portner was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

For Springfield, Branden Flock took the loss. He didn’t record an out and gave up four runs on one hit.

Offensively, Flock was 4 for 5 with a solo home run, three runs scored and an RBI. Decker Scheffler was 3 for 4 with a two-run home run, three runs scored and three RBIs. Ryan Sturm also had three hits and two doubles for the Tigers.

Essig 4, Searles 3

ESSIG — Essig defeated Searles in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Friday night.

Alex Guggisberg earned the win. He pitched two innings, giving up three runs on four hits for Essig. Jay Helget pitched seven innings and struck out nine, allowing two runs on four hits.

Casey Lux pitched eight innings and took the loss. He allowed four runs on eight hits.

For Essig, Guggisberg was 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Erich Prokosch was 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Ben Wolf was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored.

For Searles, Nick Dewanz was 2 for 3 with a run scored and Josh Seidl was 1 for 4 with an RBI.
