SLEEPY EYE — New Ulm VFW Post 1648 Silver got by Sleep Eye VFW Post 800 5-2 on Wednesday in VFW baseball action.

Julian Hernandez got the win for Silver, pitching four innings and allowing two earned runs, while Mitch Ulrich picked up a three-inning save, allowing no runs.

Josh Giefer led Silver, going 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Maddox Mortenson was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and Jaden Drill was 1 for 2 with an RBI.

Silver moved to 3-1 with the win and will take on Maple River at 6 p.m. Thursday in a doubleheader at Searles.
