NEW ULM — The third time was the charm for Shane Kvidera on Sunday.

Playing in his third New Ulm Invitational Golf Tournament, Kvidera finished with a score of 188 to earn his first Invitational championship.

He put himself in position to win with a 75 on Saturday and that strong play carried over to the 27 holes on Sunday. There, he finished strong on the final nine holes to secure the title by one stroke over New Ulm’s Scott Paa

“I really putted a lot better on the final nine,” Kvidera said.

Paa finished with a 189 and Brian Reagan was third with a 190. Paa led after the first day but Kvidera had a solid Day 2. He plans on defending the title next year.

“Definitely, I’ll definitely be back here next year to give it a try,” he said.

Randy Herzog won the President’s Flight with a 159, ahead of Kevin Atnip (161). Dan Janke shot a 161 in the First Flight to win the title by one stroke over Darren Anderson (162).

Pete Guggisberg won the Second Flight with a 163 on a playoff with Randy Kirchberg. Eric Hensler captured the Third Flight with a 174 and Ed Hayes took home the title in the Senior A Flight with a score of 143. Don Olson won the Senior B Flight with a two-day total of 133.
