• Winkelmann continued his strong 2019 boys’ golf season with a career-low round of 74 last Wednesday in the first leg of the Tomahawk Conference boys’ golf meet at Oakdale in Buffalo Lake. The 74 led all golfers that day.

• He shot a pair of 37s on Wednesday and then backed it up with a nine-hole round of 36 at Renville on Thursday.

Winkelmann is a two-time All-Conference golfer in the Tomahawk Conference and is one of the top golfers in the area. He’s looking to help the Tigers in their bid for a state tournament trip this year.

“Mavrick has been a part of our varsity golf team since his seventh-grade year,” Springfield coach Paul Arnoldi said. “He has continually improved his game, and put together his best week of his career this week with a very solid 74 at Oakdale and an even-par round at Renville, a course he was playing for the first time.”
