MADELIA — Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey defeated Madelia 25-17, 25-15, 15-25, 25-23 on Monday in a nonconference volleyball game.

Madelia was led by Alayna DeLaCruz who had 12 kills, four digs and one block, Faith Bergeman who had six kills, 12 digs, one block and 40 set assists, and Blair Vanzee who had eight kills and one block. DeLaCruz also went 16-for-17 serving with three aces.

Madelia hosts Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

New Ulm 1, Fairmont 0

FAIRMONT–New Ulm defeated Fairmont 1-0 on Monday in a boys’ soccer game.

Trent Fluegge scored for New Ulm with 26:04 left in the second half of the game. Josh Rakoczy had nine saves.

New Ulm plays at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Worthington.
