NEW ULM — In what was a frustrating and physical game for New Ulm, Fairmont defeated New Ulm 1-0 in a Big South Conference girls’ soccer battle at New Ulm High School.

It was the second time the Cardinals defeated the Eagles this year. Fairmont defeated New Ulm 3-2 on August 25.

Fairmont’s Isabelle Lenort scored her team’s only goal with 23:33 left in the game. The Eagles had a chance to tie the game late, but with 15:50 left, Bekah Friendshuh’s shot went wide left.

New Ulm (5-3) hosts Worthington at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
