Prep football roundup: Cathedral pulls out 1st win of season

NUC 45, Lac qui Parle 30

MADISON — New Ulm Cathedral defeated Lac qui Parle Valley 45-30 on Friday in a Southwest District football game.

Elliot Schoo had 25 carries for 244 yards and scored three touchdowns for Cathedral, while Zach Helget had 18 carries for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Alex Hillesheim had 10 tackles, while Jacob Geiger had eight tackles and one fumble recovery.

Cathedral (1-2) plays at 7 p.m. on Friday at Murray County Central.

TCU 37, New Ulm 6

MOTGOMERY–Tri-City United defeated New Ulm 37-6 on Friday in a nondistrict football game.

Nolan Drill threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Braden Zimmerman to score New Ulm’s touchdown. Brody Zimmerman had 20 tackles, and Russell Hellendrung had 11 tackles and one fumble recovery.

New Ulm (0-3) hosts Marshall at 7 p.m. on Friday.

WEM 56, GFW 12

WATERVILLE–Waterville-Elysian-Morristown defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 56-12 on Friday in a South Central District, Blue Subdistrict football game.

JC Munoz ran for 23 yards and scored a touchdown for GFW, while Treay Taylor had four carries for 49 yards. Also for GFW, Damian Hopp threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Evan Elder.

GFW hosts New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geniva at 7 p.m. on Friday.

CM/C 47, Fulda 28

MORGAN — Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Fulda 47-28 on Friday in a 9-man South District football game.

CM/C’s Eli Samuelson put on a show for the home crowd, running for 145 yards and two scores while also throwing for 226 yards and five touchdowns. Brady Forbrook had five catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns, and Justin Lumbar had three catches for 94 yards and three touchdowns for CM/C.

Jon Varner, Justin Lumbar, Seth Lorenzen and Lucas Emineth each had a sack for the Cougars’ defense. Kaleb Cornwell led CM/C with eight tackles.

CM/C (1-2) hosts Edgerton Friday.

Cleveland 26, Madelia 20

MADELIA–Cleveland defeated Madelia 26-20 on Friday in a 9-man South District, Central Subdistrict football game.

Angel Zamora had a 15-yard touchdown run for Madelia. Ramiro Zamora took a kick return for a touchdown also for the Blackhawks and piled up 160 yards on two kick returns.

Madelia (2-2) plays at 7 p.m. on Friday at Nicollet.
