Prep football roundup: New Ulm falls to Worthington; MVL gets shut out

Worthington 43, New Ulm 7

WORTHINGTON — Worthington downed New Ulm on Friday in a South Central District football game.

Nolan Drill scored New Ulm’s touchdown on a 40-yard fumble recovery in the third quarter.

New Ulm (0-2) will travel to Tri City United on Friday.

Maple River 15, GFW 6

WINTHROP — Maple River edged Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Friday 15-6 in a South Central District football game.

GFW’s JC Munoz rushed 14 times for 103 yards and one touchdown.

Evan Martin was 4 for 9 passing for 62 yards. Munoz had eight tackles, seven of them were solo and two assists.

Despite the loss, GFW put up 199 yards on offense and limited Maple River to 186.

GFW (1-1) will play at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Friday.

LP/HT 36, MVL 0

LESTER PRAIRIE — Lester Prairie shut out Minnesota Valley Lutheran 36-0 on Friday night in Mid-Southeast District, West Subdistrict football action.

No stats were provided by MVL.

The Chargers fall to 0-2 on the year and host St. Clair/Loyola on Friday.

Nicollet 21, AC/GE 14

NICOLLET — Jon Mans threw for three touchdowns as Nicollet defeated Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Friday in a 9-man South District football game.

Mans threw a 40-yard pass and a 54-yard pass to Josh Chadderdon. Mans tossed a 3-yard pass to Riley Hulke. Anthony Macias kicked three extra points.

Mans was 12 for 20 passing for 192 yards with three touchdowns. Chadderdon caught three passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns while Hulke caught five pases for 33 yards and a touchdown.

Ben Radke had 15 solo tackles and an interception. Avery Northquest added 13 tackles and Chadderdon had 12 solo tackles.

Nicollet (1-1) will travel to Cook County on Friday.

MCC 30, Springfield 14

SLAYTON — Murray County Central topped Springfield 30-14 on Friday in Southwest District football action.

Decker Scheffler was 15 for 25 for 181 yards and a touchdown. Isaac Fink grabbed seven catches for 90 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers, while Jordan Kieper had four catches for 75 yards.

Curtis Tauer and Owen Bertram led the Tigers in tackles.

Springfield hosts Adrian at 4 p.m. at Sticker Field on Friday.
