Tigers knock out Searles in TEL playoffs

SEARLES — The Springfield Tigers punched their ticket to the Region 2C tournament with a 15-4 win over the Searles Grizzlies on Sunday in Game 2 of Tomahawk East League playoff action.

The Region 2C tourney begins Saturday.

The Tigers battered the Grizzlies for 24 hits in the game while allowing Searles seven hits. The Tigers were led by Ryan Sturm, who was 5 for 6 with four runs scored and a solo home run.

Also for the Tigers, Branden Flock added four hits and four RBIs, while Pat Moriarty added three hits, two home runs and five RBIs. Jacob Menage also had three hits for the Tigers, while Carter Erickson had two hits and two RBIs and Brandon Wilhelmi had two hits.

Shawn Anderson got the win for Springfield with four earned runs allowed on six hits and a walk. He struck out 10.

For Searles, Frank Forstner was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, while Rob Meidl was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Michael Schlottman took the loss for Searles in two innings of work, allowing five earned runs on seven hits. He struck out one.
