Tuesday’s softball games washed away at Caswell Park

NORTH MANKATO — Because of rain, Tuesday’s softball games at Caswell Park were rescheduled to Wednesday.

New Ulm will play Mankato West at 5 p.m. and Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s will play Cleveland at 5 p.m. The winner of that game will play Sleepy Eye at 7 p.m.

Prep boys’ golf

SEU 322, Cathedral 341, Madelia 350, MCW 353

NORTH MANKATO — After Day 1 of the Section 2A boys’ golf tournament at North Links Golf Course, Sleepy Eye United leads with a 322, followed by New Ulm Cathedral (341), Madelia (350) and Martin County West (353). There were 13 teams participating on Day 1 and the top four teams will move on to Day 2 on Monday.

Ben Laffen led SEU with a 75 (3-over par). Thor Weiss and Logan Netzke also shot an 83 and 84, respectively, for SEU.

Logan Haala led Cathedral with a 77, while Ethan Kirchberg shot an 82. Madelia was led by Jared Henry with an 83 and Carson Wihlm with an 86.

Also advancing was Sam Pfingsten of Minnesota Valley Lutheran. Pfingsten led overall with a score of 72.

Springfield also had four golfers advance in Mason Kretsch (83), Mavrick Winkelmann (87), Christopher Thram (92) and Tabor Runck (93). Cedar Mountain had four golfers advance in Ethan Bock (88), Aidan Nelsen (90), Dain Dallenbach (90) and Chase Schiller (92).
