BUFFALO LAKE — The New Ulm boys’ golf team is in second place at the Section 3AA meet after one day.

Worthington leads with a team score of 322 and New Ulm is next with a 333. Marshall (334), New London-Spicer (335) and Jackson County Central (336) will compete on Day 2 next week.

New Ulm’s Glavine Schugel is the overall leader with a 73. Aiden Guggisberg is tied for 10th overall with a 79.

MANKATO — Mankato Loyola eliminated Minnesota Valley Lutheran from the Section 2A baseball playoffs on Thursday.

Teddy Giefer was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Chargers. MVL had six hits in the game.

Jordan Fischer gave up five runs and six hits in one inning pitched for the Chargers, who end their season at 4-11.
