WORTHINGTON — New Ulm crushed Worthington 20-4 on Saturday in Big South Conference action.

Luke Scheid was the winning pitcher for the Eagles, allowing one earned run on three hits and three walks. Tyler Roufs pitched two innings in relief for Scheid, striking out four while allowing three walks, one hit and three unearned runs.

Roufs led the Eagles’ offense with a 3-for-4 day at the plate and two RBIs. T.J. Sweere added a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs for New Ulm, while Andrew Peters had two hits and five RBIs.

Jaden Domeier added two hits, while Braden Zimmerman added two hits and two RBIs. Scheid also added three RBIs on two hits.

The Eagles totaled 15 hits in the game and improved to 12-1 overall and a perfect 10-0 in the conference with the win. They next host Fairmont on Tuesday.

BLHS 6, Madelia 4

HECTOR — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart topped Madelia 6-4 and 10-1 in a doubleheader on Saturday.

Logan Anderson pitched Game 1 for the Blackhawks, allowing seven hits and a walk while striking out four.

Tyler Schwanke added a triple for Madelia and seventh-grader Alex Hennis had a hit and two RBIs in Game 1.

In Game 2, Luke Hennis received the loss on the mound, allowing nine hits, three walks and striking out two. Tyler Coners pitched two innings of relief for Madelia in Game 2 with two hits and one walk allowed and a strikeout.

Coners also added a hit along with Luke Hennis and Schwanke.

Madelia falls to 2-10 on the year and hosts Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Tuesday.

New Ulm boys finish 4th in Mankato East

two-day tournament

NEW PRAGUE — The New Ulm boys’ golf team finished fourth overall out of seven teams in the Mankato East two-day tournament (680). The Eagles had a Day 2 score of 352.

Glavine Schugel and Matt Janke had New Ulm’s top Day 2 scores with a 77 and 87, respectively.

Northfield took first with a 635, followed by New Prague in second (641) and Mankato East (653).

New Ulm girls finish 6th at Mankato Invite

MANAKATO — The New Ulm girls’ golf team finished 6th at the Mankato Invite on Saturday with a team score of 412.

Abbey Frauenholtz and Izzie Wolkow led the Eagles with a score of 95 each.

New Ulm boys, girls finish fifth at Big South Conference Championship Meet

PIPESTONE — The New Ulm boys’ and girls’ track and field teams both finished fifth at the Big South Conference Championship Meet on Saturday with a score of 83 and 79.5 in the Big School division, respectively.

For the New Ulm girls, Paige Kalis took third in the 100-meter dash (13.40), third in the 200 (27.52) and first in the long jump (15-03). The 4×100 relay team finished first (54.05).

Olivia Owens finished second in the high jump (5-02), while Emma Gauert took first in the pole vault (9-00). Erika Ebert took third in the pole vault (8-00).

For the boys, Justin Fuhrman took third in the 200-meter dash (23.97), while Sean Howk took fourth in the 400 (53.80). Conor Gag took fourth in the discus (114-04), and Wyatt Huard finished second in the long jump (19-00.25).
