Prep Roundup: Nicollet boys eke by Le Sueur-Henderson; Chargers dominate Friday

Le Sueur-Henderson 65

HENDERSON — Nicollet defeated Le Sueur-Henderson 68-65 on Saturday in boys’ basketball action.

Riley Hulke led the Raiders with 23 points and six assists, while Ean Thomsen had 21 points and four rebounds.

Josh Chadderdon also chipped in 7 points for Nicollet.

Nicollet plays at Immanuel Lutheran on Thursday.

Late Friday

MVL 85, BLHS 43

HECTOR — Minnesota Valley Lutheran throttled Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 85-43 on Friday night in Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball action.

MVL (14-5, 9-2) shot 52 percent on the night, while holding the Mustangs (6-11, 5-7) to 29 percent shooting. Jake Kettner led the charge for MVL with 24 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Jace Marotz added 12 points, while Dunwa Omot had 10 points, five assists and four steals for MVL.

Mason Cox and TaShawn Parker also chipped in 9 and 8 points respectively for the Chargers. Payton Diepold led BLHS with 12 points and 11 boards, while Dane Daak added 11 points.

MVL hosts Cedar Mountain/Comfrey at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Prep wrestling

RRV goes 2-1

ST. PAUL — Redwood River Valley went 2-1 at the Cretin-Derham Hall Dual Tournament on Saturday.

RRV picked up a win over Cretin-Derham Hall 54-27 and a win over Fridley 39-32 before falling to Totino Grace 47-33.

3-0 wrestlers for RRV were Damico Arrendondo (106), Owen Bertram (113), Tayte Harazin (145) and Chad Maddock (Hwt.)

Prep girls’ basketball

Cathedral 50, SJA 30

ST. JAMES — New Ulm Cathedral topped St. James Area on Saturday night by a score of 50-30 in nonconference girls’ basketball.

Rose Hazuka led the Greyhounds (5-15) with 13 points, while McKenna Miling, Lauryn Franta and Becca Schwarz each added 8 points.

The Greyhounds host Sleepy Eye on Monday.
