MARSHALL — The New Ulm girls’ hockey team defeated Marshall 5-0 in Big South Conference action on Thursday.
Ali Beltz scored three goals for New Ulm and had an assist. Madeline Gag and Molly Scheid also scored a goal for New Ulm and Gag had two assists.
Cassie Reed had 22 saves for New Ulm. New Ulm (15-3, 9-0) is at Orono on Saturday.

Nicollet 57, Loyola 54
NICOLLET — Nicollet defeated Mankato Loyola 57-54 on Thursday in a Valley Conference boys’ basketball game.
Nicollet was led by Ean Thomsen, who had 26 points and eight rebounds. Also for Nicollet, Anthony Macias had 13 points and five rebounds and Riley Hulke had 12 points, eight assists and five rebounds.
Nicollet plays at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial.

MADELIA — Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther defeated Madelia 73-53 on Thursday in a Valley Conference boys’ basketball game.
GHEC/T/ML was led by Zach Wolter, who scored 20 points and Derek Shoen, who scored 18 points.
Madelia’s leading scorer was Ramiro Zamora, who scored 13 points.
Madelia (0-11) hosts Martin County West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

WINTHROP — Sleepy Eye defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 56-32 on Thursday in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game.
Sleepy Eye was led by Madi Heiderscheidt, who scored 19 points and Brianna Polesky, who scored 11 points.
GFW’s leading scorer was Emily Hiemkes, who scored 12 points.
GFW (9-4) hosts Le Sueur-Henderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Sleepy Eye plays at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Hayfield invite against New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva.
