NEW ULM — New Ulm continued its solid first half of the season with a 128.9-126.175 win over St. Peter in Big South Conference gymnastics on Thursday night.

The scores were a little lower than New Ulm coach Kortney Peterson would have liked to have seen, but she said that her team did well regardless.

“I think overall we had a really good meet,” Peterson said. “Judging was a little bit lower, so our team total was lower than it has been. But overall, the girls did well on every event.”

New Ulm had four top-five finishers in vault with Erika Ebert at fifth with an 8.525, Kaylee Hutchinson at fourth (8.55), Sarah Longtin at third (8.875) and Michelle Rosenhamer at second (8.95).

In bars, Kelsi Miller took fifth (7.6), Paige Kalis took third (7.75) and Sarah Longtin took second (8.1) for the Eagles. On the beam, Hutchinson finished fifth (7.2), Rosenhamer was third (7.625) and Miller was first (8.05).

Hutchinson finished tied for fourth on the floor with St. Peter’s Maddy Rimstad (8.2), while Longtin finished third (8.45) and Rosenhamer finished first (8.75) on the floor.

New Ulm had two gymnasts finish in the top five in all-around scores. Miller finished third with a 31.2 and Longtin finished second with a 32.525.

Longtin finished just behind St. Peter’s Bella Edmonds in all-around scores as Edmonds finished with a 32.55.

Peterson said that her girls will be looking to add to their routines and stay consistent in the second half of the season.

“We have a couple of big meets coming up, so we’re looking to get some of our new skills we’ve been working on into our routines,” Peterson said. “We just want to stay clean and consistent now for the rest of the year until sections and conference.”

New Ulm JV also picked up a 115.15-109.35 victory over the St. Peter JV squad.

New Ulm travels to Marshall for an 11 a.m. invitational on Saturday.
