GFW girls stay unbeaten in Tomahawk Conference

GFW 66, BLHS 53
WINTHROP — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 66-53 on Monday in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game.
GFW was led by Emily Heimkes who scored 15 points, Maddy Elder who scored 14 points, and Miah Busse who scored 13 points.
The leading scorer for BLHS was Sara Kottke who scored 20 points.
GFW (4-0) hosts Springfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. BLHS hosts Minnesota Valley Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Boys’ basketball
St. Clair 54, Sleepy Eye 49
SLEEPY EYE — St. Clair defeated Sleepy Eye 54-49 on Monday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.
St. Clair’s leading scorer was Grant Nagel who scored 20 points.
Sleepy Eye was led by Ben Laffen who scored 15 points and Zach Haala who scored 10 points.
Sleepy Eye plays at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Lutheran. St. Clair hosts Maple River at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
BLHS 90, GFW 81
HECTOR — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 90-81 on Monday in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game.
The leading scorer for BLHS was Trent Weispfenning who scored 35 points.
GFW was led by Kyle Huiras who scored 28 points, Martin Ortiz who scored 21 points, and Zach Weber who scored 17 points.
GFW plays at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Peter. BLHS plays at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Minnesota Valley Lutheran.
