St. Mary’s girls stay unbeaten with win over MCW

St. Mary’s 50, MCW 44

SHERBURN — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s remained unbeaten with a 50-44 girls’ basketball win against Martin County West on Tuesday.

For St. Mary’s Cassie Heinrichs led the way with 16 points and four rebounds. Sydney Windschitl scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Jody Hansen scored nine points for the Knights. Hansen also had four steals and two assists.

St. Mary’s (3-0) hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday.

Nicollet 45, SJA 28

NICOLLET — Nicollet downed St. James Area on Tuesday in a nonconference girls’ basketball game.

Grace Dehen led the Raiders with 16 points and four steals. Brooke Skrien added 15 points and Kaitlyn Frutiger had seven points with six rebounds.

Nicollet (1-0) will play at Sibley East on Friday.

Redwood Valley 49

MORGAN — Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Redwood Valley on Tuesday in a nonconference girls’ basketball contest.

Abby Jemmings led CM/C with 22 points and seven steals. Taylor Rose added 20 points with seven rebounds. Jordan Kevelin scored 14 points while Erica Bock had seven points and eight rebounds.

CM/C (1-0) will play on Dec. 5 at Springfield (0-1).

Springfield 48

LAMBERTON — Springfield’s Sydney Hauger scored 21 points but Red Rock Central handed the Tigers a nonconference girls’ basketball loss on Tuesday.

Brandi Platz scored 10 for the Tigers.

For RRC, Kaitlyn Reindfleisch led the way with 15 points and Vanessa Kedl scored 14.

Springfield (0-1) hosts Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Friday.

Boys’ hockey

Rochester Lourdes 2,

New Ulm 1 (OT)

ROCHESTER — Rochester Lourdes edged New Ulm on Tuesday in a nonconference boys’ hockey game.

Sam Berg got the Eagles’ lone goal with an assist by Luke Scheid. Goaltender Jack Raymond had 27 saves with 29 shots on goal. The Eagles had 19 shots on goal.

New Ulm (0-1) will play at Hutchinson on Thursday.
