NEW ULM — Sophomore Ryan Gurgel was named UMAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday.

Gurgel earned the honor after finishing in fifth place at the Loras College Invitational with a time of 27:02.0 on Friday, October 6. That time was first among MLC runners, and helped the Knights earn second place out of five teams at the event.

This marks the third time this season an MLC runner has earned the honor. Gurgel’s teammate, Benjamin Bitter, won the award on Sept. 18 and Oct. 2.
